Academic Affairs

My job as Academic Rep is to ensure that no one in college gets unnecessarily worried about essays, workloads or tutorials etc. There are several ports of call if you feel lost. Firstly, I float around college and (alas) assorted libraries in Oxford and will no doubt see a lot of you in Freshers' Week. So, if you have ANY questions, from the locations of tutors' rooms to the atomic number of Magnesium I will either attempt an answer or (more likely in the latter case) get some knowledgeable person to answer your queries.

Secondly, there exists a mythical institution called the Subject Leader scheme. Basically, this ensures that there are one or two second years in charge of each subject. Their names and email addresses will be posted in the JCR and they will hopefully give you a little tour of Oxford at some time during Freshers' Week. They can answer subject specific questions and tell you a little more about what it is like to be a chemist, a PPEist, a mathematician etc...

The less exciting part of my job involves being responsible for the library. Pembroke College library is both loved and hated by every Pembrokian and you will no doubt feel the same way after a term or so. I get to sit in on the Library Committee (yay!) and ask that they get new books, buy new chairs etc. So, any library difficulties, you know where to come.
